This British/Canadian TV series [aired on UK SciFi, somewhere in Canada and on Showtime in the US], is a modern-day version of television shows like “The Hitchhiker”. The brother to “Masters of Horror” but more consistently twisted per episode, the logical [d]evolution of the grandfather of narrated mind-twisting stories called “The Twilight Zone”, “The Hunger” comes onto you like something that happened that night last week but still can’t quite scrub off in the holiest of daylight.
Do note that this TV series has absolutely no connection to the film of the same name about a female vampire seducing Susan Sarandon after David Bowie turns into a raisin overnight.
Speaking of, David Bowie does step in as ‘The Host’ Season 2, replacing the great Terence Stamp in Season 1.
The second season was almost as odd, or weird, as the first season, though I found it missing something. I saw a few episodes, and ditched the rest. Yes, Bowie is Bowie, but something else was amiss.
I recommend the first season. The second season is worth a try, but don’t bother if it doesn’t take with you.
