Politiking.

Posted in Telling Stories at 6:56 AM by Myles

Pres. Obama scored a personal victory for me this week by saying that Cambridge police “acted stupidly”. The particular incident doesn’t matter because the “gut analysis” Obama voiced is accurate. I have known that police in that part of this country act “stupidly” for my entire life — not only Cambridge police, but Massachusetts police as a whole. New York police can share in the glory too. Except for a good few officers, the police in Massachusetts and New York are vindictive predators out for your money. They are sharks who give you trumped up violations on the clear fact that you weren’t hurting anybody.

On the other hand, sitting between a Republican and a Conservative Democrat at a bar as they discuss Pres. Obama and his go at Health Reform prompted me to finish my drink and call it a night.

Peter Principle.

Cowards are assholes.

Today, the new Manager for my current apartment complex knocked on my door to tell me that my music was “too loud” — and that she had “talked” to me “about this before”.

    Definition Of “Before”:

Someone complained about “throbbing music” before 7am. I explained, in person and over the phone, the NPR that I listen to before 7am does not contain “throbbing music”. I mentioned that a geographically nearby neighbor has an alarm clock continuously on in the morning as if he were in a coma.

    Definition Of “Loud”:

Noises are allowed between 7am and 10pm. Quiet hours are between 10pm and 7am. At 3pm, the current Manager knocked on my door to personally tell me that my music was “too loud” and that she could hear it from 20 feet from my open window. I disagreed with her definition of “loud”, but declined to punch her in the nose. I an considering a letter to clarify the definition of “quiet hours” and “talked to you before” as it relates to NPR’ obviously heavy techo-heavy music.

::Update::
The following morning, around 5am and lasting for about an hour at least, the newest neighbor [the one with the marathon alarm clock] made known what a good time he was having by loudly and drunkenly singing and talking. The perfect excuse for me to counter-complain against someone via the Manager. I dropped in the “previous conversation” line for bonus.

Look-A-Likes.

Posted in Telling Stories at 1:35 PM by Myles

From time to time, I encounter look-a-likes of famous people in normal social settings. A noted example was a 2005 encounter with a “John Mark Karr” look-a-like.

The past week or so at work, I noticed a look-a-like to the actor Ted Raimi, notably to his “Lieutenant Junior Grade Tim O’Neill” character on SeaQuest: DSV [the submarine's very believable linguistic comm officer]. Xena fans will know him as “Joxer The Mighty”. I pulled up a picture to show a coworker, who later self-identified the guy on his own.

Oh hey, more DVDs from Netflix..

Now I remember why they call them “Roach Coach”.

A zombie movie follow-up is rather fitting.

“Where’s The Bridge, Myles?!?”

Posted in Penny Circular at 11:50 AM by Myles

I’ve been played by George Clooney, Danny Glover and Martin Lawrence — among others. I’ve been a train conductor, jewel thief and divorce lawyer — among other things. It is so amazingly fun to have my name used for main characters in movies. Side characters too.

Both my wrists, and my whole lower left arm, hurt [left is worse than right]. I fear RSI and carpal tunnel.

L&O: SVU & L&O: CI, at least 5 years each, are available on Netflix video streaming. How pail will I be in the near future for lack of sunlight? This so makes up for my completing C&C gaming [up to this date].

My musical CD//file project is rounding the hump. I have four CDs left to process [produce reasonably informative CD case inserts for]; then CD re-organizing, .mp3 renaming and .mp3 re-organizing [last one expected to take the longest, after CD insert creation]. This whole project has been and continues to be huge, time consuming, in-depth and necessary. I can’t wait to be done with it, I can’t wait to be on the down-slope.

Is it good or bad that that the sub-woofer I have for my computer’s sound system produces a significant and very noticeable breeze — that is, air vibration — that I can feel a foot away?

“This week” has passed quickly for some reason.

I’m glad for a paycheck. Seeing what I can cut, or cut more of, is in progress.

Projects are mushrooming. Having my wrists hurt is not good.

Having a working version of WordPress is great. To say the same thing about FireFox 3.5….
