Reconstruction

Yesterday, I discovered several things wonky with my eMail system.

  1. The display theme changed all on its own.
  2. My eMail address book was dead and gone, in total.
  3. My eMail aliases were alive and gone, in total.

Fortunately, the following was still intact:

  1. Saved eMail Messages
  2. All other eMail support structures.

After luck, forgotten foresight and an entire Halloween morning, I have restored — an backed up — a whole new email address book. Go me. A few minutes and I reconstructed my email aliases. The theme is changed as well, which is fine.

Now back to my regularly scheduled programming.

Turns out it was an actual problem on the side of my hosting company. I guess they got enough complaints [mine included] to have a Status Blog update to which I was the First Poster [yay!].

So after they fixed everything, I got to re-do my entire email address book again. However, this is not so bad. I now have two back-ups of my email address book.

And my olde display theme and email aliases got restored.

I assume most of this is true for the other folks at my hosting company.

“…MA?”

It appears that MA is going to vote on killing their income tax. This vote is amazing.

First: MA car insurance reform in ~30 years. Sweet Jesus!

Now: Vote on MA Income Tax Extermination. Dearest Buddha!

Does this mean that I may actually have less and less reason to not return to MA? What about the Trooper and Driver crap, or is that a Too Expensive thought to ponder?

A ninja turtle with my initial, certainly not from the sewers of Vienna. A medical doctor and a surgeon. Several pirates [Depp included]. Several hick-girl farmers. Weird 1960s people [jogger headband with cheap suit jacket included]. Lawrence Of Arabia, Before and After the motorcycle crash [Before was from a Puffy & Ma$e music video; After was from the 1980s punk music scene]; they said I was “on a totally different level”, and I took it as a compliment.

It is Oktober yet.

A bar where they know your name. Drunk, middle-aged men confusing breaking their neck with break dancing. Old black prostitutes asking about rose-scented plastic rats stuffed up their shirts. Dar Williams, live. Attempts to make clear the difference between folk and country. A job interview of currently unknown status. Complete sale of entire collection of “Clearly I Want To Get Rid Of It” paintings. So-far successful install of XP SP3.

Circuit City is dead as predicted to me two years ago in 2k6. The… Blockbuster-Level raising of the white-flag provokes feelings of vindication for me, even though all I did was never shop there.

Yesterday, I go to the post office to mail some eBay sales. I leave my credit card there. I don’t realize this until sometime a little after 10p.

Today, another eBay bid-winner paid me. I go to the post office to mail the package. The uber-cool clerk, who also knows my name like several of the others, immediately handed me my credit card whilst I waited in line.

I am very happy.
