The Price Of Shopping.

Posted in Telling Stories, The Strange at 1:53 PM by Myles

Whilst waiting for a friend at my favorite area bar, I was informed that prices had increased on most beers during happy hour by a significant amount. I was not affected, luckily, but still I noticed.

Whilst church shopping, a fatal car collision occurred at my current church. Obviously, something I missed in person but have been hearing and will continue to hear about for many a virtual millennium. Though part of me wants pictures in lieu of not being there [thank you, Captain Morbid], I do have a fairly good idea and holodeck of what happened [thank you, History Man & Imagination Boy].

Now, to hopefully dig my way to selling more stuff…

“… Designed By States…”

Can you imagine Obama telling The South that the Feds are coming in to plan their future for them? I can hear the cries of “Reconstruction 2.0!” from such a time line even now.

I liked the speech. I almost hear a call for a “Green Revolution”, similar to a call for a man on the moon or similar.

NPR audio was a couple seconds behind CNN video, but I think that makes sense.

Taxes Cause Inflation.

I pay my own salary.

A stimulus dollar is supposed to make another dollar appear somewhere else.

I have to avoid a certain coworker when he rants about stuff like this.

Antiquity Of The Future.

I have come across websites that look like they have not changed from the 1990s. I mean 1995.

But you know the owners keep them up to date because, for example, the sites have Google Maps integrated pretty well with the rest of the content…. right above the pixelated clip art over run by text.

And here I am using frames on my own, “Web 1.5″ site. So I can talk.

Ouroboros.

While watching an epi of L&O:SVU that I had never seen before, Det. Stabler calls an RFID chip used to track your female partner’s movements a “hojack”.

Not having heard the term before, I look it up on urbandictionary. The one and only entry references the term being coined by Det. Stabler on the L&O:SVU epi I was watching.

I knew it was Bob Saget.

Timing Forward.

I go to my local bar to get out of the house and hear some live music. Oddly enough, “Series of Unfortunate Events” is on one of their televisions [which usually play sports or FuelTV].

During one of the ad segments, a promo for the new series “Flash Forward” comes on. This series is based upon the book “Flash Forward” by SF Writer Robert J. Sawyer, an author I’ve met several times, interviewed on the radio, and talked with at various SF cons.

I make a note to email him about seeing the promo once I get home.

Once I get home, I see an email from… Robert J. Sawyer about the TV series and the re-issuing of the book [I'm on his eMail Newsletter distro]. So I reply. Since, of course, this is the kind of thing that happens in the book.

Who says I make this stuff up? Like an Olde Neighborhood friend said, I am the SciFi Channel.

A dead guy tried to sell me something today.

The wonders of time-delay devices.
