Even the “help” is contradictory, some buried peon more correct — but still dis-functionally wrong — than the official idiots who made the damn thing in the first place.

A Recap Of The Past 2.5 Months [In Order]:

  1. Worked either grave or swing shift for entirety of stated time period [ending in Days]
  2. Worked overtime in addition to #1
  3. Wedding planning and research [culminating in #8]
  4. The hospice, death, memorial & burial of fiance’s grandmother
  5. Moving in together [requisite packing and hauling; forget unpacking]
  6. Burial of my 14-year dead grandfather at National Arlington Cemetery
  7. Sprained wrist four days prior to wedding [yes, I was sober when I fell]
  8. Turned fiance into wife [two consecutive days off work! wow!]

A Forecast Of Plots Now Afoot:

  • Work day or swing shift, allegedly with both weekend days off
  • Unpack and organize everything still in boxes, because everything is still in boxes
  • Acclimate to living with new wife, and the new area we’re living in
  • Deal with the prevailing economic realities regarding my job and my cricket-sounding bank account
  • Plan, research and [somehow] pay for delayed honeymoon
  • Continue to pretend to go easy on my wrist//thumb

[gasp for air]

…and like the Cylons, have a plan. Thank you T.

Arlo: Phase II.

I have just been to my second, and this time successful, attempt to attend a live Arlo Guthrie concert.

It was great. He talks like I imagined, the stories were wonderful and the music was fantastic. If the show wasn’t sold out, it wasn’t by very much.

Life Lesson: Individuals can change the world, even if its as ‘Anonymous Dude’ saying to Biblical Joseph With The Colorful Coat, “They went that way!”. Without Anonymous Dude, Joseph doesn’t go to Egypt and it all falls down from there.

“Who Is #1?”

“You… Are #6…”

Yesterday, I had my 6th interview since beginning my active job search 6 months ago [having been unemployed for 10 months]. The running joke is that in this Depression, I’ve had more interviews [in person or otherwise] than I had 5 years ago.

This morning, about 21 hours after the interview, I receive a phone call from the company’s recruiter who initially contacted me. He informed me that there had been 11 candidates for the position. He informed me that three candidates were selected. He informed me that I was one of the three and that the process of generating an offer was beginning.

You cannot believe how amazing this is. Let me mention a few factors:

  • This company is the leading company in its field, and its field is the field I started in out of University.
  • I was considering this interview as the “Be All, End All” for California — double digit unemployment, you know.
  • The back of my brain had been entertaining the thought that working for this company would be a Holy Grail of what I needed; hard work, good work, a leg up, a “redo” for “if I had known then”, the learning experience I need but may complain about from time to time, &c.
  • I’ve been unemployed for 10 months, and therefore am near the bottom of all the money I had saved up the past 5 years and was desperate for something “official” to do [the infamous "employment gap" in those resumes of ours].
